Get Birds Off Your Boat

Birds like pigeons, seagulls and cormorants can quickly cause hundreds of dollars of damage to a boat if left unchecked. To protect your boat from birds it is time to get some sort of bird control system. There are many types of bird control products on the market that work well on boats. Here are a few:

When birds are a problem on your boat it is time to get the bird spider. Birds like pigeons and seagulls often like to land and roost on radar units, canvas covers, masts and Biminis. To protect these areas from pest birds and the droppings they leave behind, install bird control spiders in these areas.

How it works:

The bird spiders have eight marine grade stainless steel "arms" that move with the breeze, scaring the birds causing them to land somewhere else besides your boat.

Where to Use:

• Radar Units: The bird spider is ideal to use on radar units, attach with zip ties for easy removal when using the boat.
• Canvas Covers: Use the bird spider attached to a sand bag base to cover the canvas area so birds can not land and make a mess. The spiders come in four sizes, 2 foot diameter, 4 foot, 6 foot and 8 foot diameters. There is sure to be a size to fit most boat canvas areas
• Masts: Use the bird spider attached to the boat base on masts. Attach using bungie cords and remove and stow when using the boat.

Birds love to land on radar units, masts, canvas covers and other areas of a boat that is docked in a harbor or by a home.  They like to be up high and watch for food, or roost in the sunshine while leaving behind a mess.  It is not a happy sight to get to your boat all ready for a day on the water, but it is covered in bird droppings and debris that first must be cleaned off.  Bird droppings can be acidic and ruin the finish of a boat rather quickly.   They also discolor canvas and Bimini tops.

A Solution to Roosting Birds on Boats:

Bird spikes will keep these pest birds off your boat.  They are easily installed on masts, radar units and other areas using zip ties or boat bases with bungies.  When the boat is ready to be used simply remove the spikes and stow, upon return to the dock, put the spikes back up.
